Job Qualifications 

To us, attitude is the utmost important characteristic that we look for when recruiting. We seek someone that shares our vision of changing the status quo in the medical industry by improving existing methods and workflows and making an impact that matters to many people. Skills can always be learned, but if you are familiar with most of the points below that is a huge plus. The qualifications, and experience that we highly value is the following:  
 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or above in Computer Science, Data Science, Electronic Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related disciplines. Master’s Degree holders are preferred.

  • Experience in image processing, computer vision, and/or machine learning is a plus.

  • Basic knowledge of laboratory techniques (e.g., microscope, biological sample handling) is a plus.

  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks and projects.

  • Strong work ethic and passion for learning, and commitment to the overall development of medical products.

  • Programming skills and knowledge in Python, and MATLAB.

  • Image processing software experience (e.g. ImageJ) would be helpful.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Good command of written and spoken English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.


Job Summary and Responsibilities

  • Build, modify, and optimize machine learning (ML) or deep learning (DL) models for medical imaging. Image preprocessing for ML or DL model training.

  • Design and implement a standardized pipeline for quality inspection of images.

  • Perform optical imaging experiments in a laboratory setting.

  • Assist in the collection and processing of clinical samples from local hospitals.

  • Assist with ad hoc tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

 

Skills and Requirements

  • Graduation Year: On or before the summer of 2023

  • Fields of Study: Computer Science / Data Science/ Statistics / Electronic Engineering / Computer Engineering / Biomedical Engineering or relevant field

  • Education Level (pursuing/obtained): Bachelor, Master / Postgraduate Diploma

  • Required Level of Work Experience: None

 

Employment Details

  • Salary (range): ~$18,000 (Bachelor’s Degree), ~$21,000 (Master’s Degree)

  • Start Date: 1st April 2023

  • Location: HKUST, or Hong Kong Science Park (HKSTP)

  • Annual Leave: 16 days

  • Minimum Contract Length: 6 months
